RIP, Dad, and a tribute, of sorts

It has been some time since my last blog entry and much has happened in between, but perhaps the greatest event and tragedy has been the death of my father, unexpected, at the age of 58. I am not the sort of pour my heart out online, but it would be impossible for me not to mention it. So as part of my tribute to him, I've decided to make fun of Miss Canada, from the Miss Universe pageant. This picture is actually the outfit she wore for the "National Costume" portion. Heaven help the Canucks:

Dad and I used to watch most of the beauty pageants somewhat religiously. I know, this seems weird, but we enjoyed commenting on the silly outfits, the hare-brained answers to questions, and betting on who we thought would win (often not the person we really wanted). Dad also took the opportunity to comment on the girl's asses, since he was a self-described "ass man."

Tonight, the Miss Universe pageant was in Mexico City, which was somewhat politically charged. The audience booed Miss USA in the final question phase. Perhaps they were mad that she got through while Miss Mexico did not. Miss USA also fell down during the evening gown portion of the night. Miss Japan won. My dad would have been disappointed: No ass.
