Our new tree!
Today, we adopted a bonzai tree:
The mud men playing Go were a gift from Justin's friend, Michael Sawyer who is stationed in Korea. We bought the tree from a man selling them on a corner. He made all of the trees himself and he had some really beautiful ones we couldn't afford. Anyway, Justin and I love our tree and we'll need to give it a name eventually.

Oooooh, pretty ... but will the cats eat it?
I let Freelove sniff it, but when she opened her mouth to take a bite, I said "No!" and she closed her mouth and went away. We are keeping it in our kitchen window, out of the cat's traffic patterns. He is pretty safe there and he has a friend - the jade plant. Roo has no clue of its existence.
Yes, we tried the "out of the cat's traffic pattern" idea with our new orange tree (a blog post about that coming soon... maybe), but as soon as she saw the orange tree sitting there she altered her traffic pattern to include it in her regular rotation.
Generally speaking, she leaves the tree alone. I have occasionally found teeth marks on some of the leaves, but I've been unable to catch her at it. That will all change soon enough... I'm hooking my webcam up to my laptop and setting it to be motion acvtivated.
